El Hierro undersea volcano still very active

The undersea volcano that emerged off the coast of El Hierro for years ago, is still active, according to scientists studying the new mountain.

Currently at 88 metres below sea level, the new volcano is undergoing intense scruitiny since it first appeared in 2012.

According to geological surveys, water in excess of 40oC is found around the vents, and many expect another phase of eruptions to happen in the future, although there is no forecast yet as to when that may happen.
