Bank holiday in Tenerife

Many shops and businesses will be closed today across Tenerife, in observance of the public holiday for the Virgen de la Candelaria.

The Virgen de la Candelaria, or La Morenita is the Canary Islands patron saint after her apparition in the Tenerife town in 1392.
