Gran Canaria slick IS from Oleg Naydenov

Authorities have confirmed that oil washed up on a Gran Canaria beach last week was from the sunken wreck of the factory ship the Oleg Naydenov. Patches of oil were spotted off the coast of Veneguera last week, and it was feared that it could have come from the sunken ship. Authorities at first said they did not believe it to be from the wreck, however they have now changed their official opinion. There has been widespread condemnation of the actions of the local authorities since the ship caught fire 2 weeks ago, and was towed out to sea, where is subsequently sunk.
