Small quake detected off coast of Fuerteventura

A small quake was detected in the Atlantic ocean off the coast of Fuerteventura at 02:40 yesterday (3rd June 2013). The IGN reported on their website initially 2.8 degrees but it was then changed to 2.9 degrees on the Richter scale. The epicentre of the quake was at a depth of 9 km and was felt by the residents of the following Fuerteventura towns : Ajuy (Pájara), Angel Casillas (Puerto del Rosario), Lajares (La Oliva), Pájara and Santa Ynez Valley (Betancuria). The IGN (National Geographic Institute) also recorded a small quake of 1.5 degrees off the coast of El Hierro at 03.10 on the same day.
