Two Canary Island beaches in TripAdvisor 2013 awards

TripAdvisor®, the largest travel site in the world, today announced the award winners for the ‘2013 Travellers’ Choice Beaches’. These awards are based on the opinions of million travelers worldwide and have considered a total of 276 beaches located in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, the Middle East and USA.

The best Spanish coastal regions assessed for its beaches have been Galicia, the Balearic Islands, Andalusia, the Basque Country and the Canary Islands. The Canary Islands has been recognised with two of the best beaches in Spain, ranking in 6th place ‘Colofe’ beach in Fuerteventura, and in 10th place ‘Las Canteras’ beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Fernandez de la Puente, has expressed his satisfaction with the prizes awarded to both beaches in the Canaries.

1. Playa de las Catedrales, Ribadeo, Lugo, Galicia
2. Playa de ses Illetes, Formentera, Islas Baleares
3. Playa de la Concha, San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, País Vasco
4. Playa de Bolonia, Tarifa, Cádiz, Andalucía
5. Playa de Zahara de los Atunes, Cádiz, Andalucía
6. Playa de Cofete, Morro del Jable, Fuerteventura, Islas Canarias
7. Playa Lanzada, O Grove, Pontevedra, Galicia
8. Cala Bassa, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza, Islas Baleares
9. Playa de Es Trenc, Mallorca, Islas Baleares
