Body of missing British citizen found on Tenerife

A body has been found on 31st December 2012 which is believed to be that of a British tourist who went missing on the 6th December 2012. The body was discovered on New Years Eve on a cliff in Los Realejos, specifically between the beach of Los Roques and the Rambla de Castro, according information provided from the Emergency Coordination Center and Security (the CECOES) 1-1-2, the Canary Islands Government and the UK authorities.

The body is believed to be that of 50 year old Peter Hentley Peter’s body, a British citizen 50 years of age and from the town of Dover in England, UK. Pending the completion of an autopsy report, it would appear that Mr. Hentley, a lover of hiking and landscapes, died as a result of an accident. To date there has not been an official confirmation by the Spanish authorities, but other news organisations have quoted the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) as a source for identifying the identity of the body. The deceased, who had diabetes, came to Tenerife on the 6th of December and stayed for a few days in Santiago del Teide and then Puerto de la Cruz.

He had also made a reservation for accommodation in Costa del Silencio, but never appeared. The last day he was seen was on the 16th December 2012. Two days after this he had a return ticket to England, but did not board the plane. The family alerted emergency services when he did not appear for work on the 19th December 2012.
