Tourism down slightly in November 2012

The number of foreign passengers passing through airports in the Canary Islands during November (2012) fell by 20,852 people. The total number of foreign visitors reached 910,989 during the month which is a decrease of 2.24% when compared to the figure from November 2011, according to data released by AENA. So far this year (2012) the Canaries have received 9,161,888 foreign passengers, 220,183 passengers less than in the period from January to November last year, representing a decrease of 2.35%.

By islands, Gran Canaria recorded a decline of 3.55% percent in the number of foreign passengers in November and 1.90% less in the full year. Data for Tenerife showed a 0.91% increase in November but a decline of 0.01% so far this year. In Fuerteventura there was a decrease of 12.17% in November and 9.58% percent from January to November. Passenger figures for foreigners entering Lanzarote show an increase of 3.58% in November and a decline of 1.56% so far this year.
