Updated at 21:00 – A total of 242 flights have been cancelled across Spain today and 142 people have been arrested.

Updated at 20:00 – Canarian Government estimates the participation in the strike in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at 20.000 people. The unions claim that over 160.000 people took place in the manifestations across the Canary Islands and over 800.000 people in the whole of Spain.

Updated at 18:00 – There are reports of stones being thrown at municipal buildings in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the evening manifestations take place. Windows have been broken. The Canarian government has lowered to 26% their gauge of the workers participation in the strike.

Updated at 16:00 – Canarian government claim that the general strike has affected 39% of their staff.

Updated at 15:00 – Unions claim that up to 75% have taken place in todays general strike across Spain. So far today 82 people have been arrested and 34 people have been injured, 18 of these police officers.

Updated at 11:00 – Unions claim that the participation in todays strike is over 80%.

Updated at 09:20 – Electricity demand falls by 15.5% due to the strike.

Updated at 09:15 – So far there have been up to 57 people across Spain arrested related to the strike. 13 people have been injured.

Updated at 07:10 – 131 flights have been cancelled up to 4:30 this morning. AENA has 2.322 programmed for today of which 1.344 are protected by a minimum service guarantee.
