Canary Islands to benefit from International unrest
The Canary Islands are set to once again benefit from the International unrest around the Mediterranean which is set to divert tourists to the Canaries during this winter season (2012). The continuous riots in several areas of the Mediterranean have alarmed tour operators who are looking at the Canaries as an alternative destination to divert thousands of tourists.
Tourist offices in Germany and Britain are advising against travelling to countries experiencing unrest, among which are Tunisia and Egypt, who are the Canary Islands direct competitors for tourism.
In addition, the economic crisis, rising oil prices and increased costs for airlines have heightened susceptibility of wholesalers. The experience of the Arab Spring has forced wholesalers to react quickly, aware of the losses that involve changing holiday destinations at the last minute.
From United Kingdom, Germany, Scandinavia and France are making a move to expand the quota of beds in the Canary Islands this winter, according to several industry sources confirmed. Airlines are also redirecting part of their fleet to the islands airports and are booking new airspaces (slots) to ensure demand for the routes and frequencies in the coming months.
It would be even better if the big tour operators made greater use these good value,safe and sunny holiday destinations within the Euro zone. Rather than shipping Europeans and their European earned disposable income to non-Euro countries where the poor continue to war among each other, where the Euro money is horded by the few in power to pay for more killing of the simple & innocent.
