Motorway speed limit to return to 120km/h

Drivers of Tenerife and Gran Canaria will today, Friday 1st July 2011, again start to see 120 km/h traffic signs on the Canarian motorways. There will be about 340 signs that have to be modified, just four months after the speed was reduced to 110 km/h in a bid by the government to reduce fuel consumption as reported here. 40 council workers worked overnight to put stickers over the recently changed signposts. The cost of this project is said to have cost around €66,000 but, according to reports, has had no effect on fuel consumption in the Canary Islands.
