Unemployment falls in the Canary Islands

Unemployment fell in the Canary Islands in the first quarter of 2011 by 2,000 people, representing a drop of 0.63%. However unemployment figures are still high with 312,400 people unemployed which means that 28.52% of the Canarian population are without employment.

In the whole of Spain, unemployment increased in the previous quarter, by 213,500 people, which is a 4.55%, bringing the total number of unemployed to 4,910,200 people which represents 21.29% of the total population.
