Tourism spend drops in January 2011
The average daily spend per tourist visiting the Canary Islands during January 2011 has fallen by 5.6% to €89. In total, each tourist visiting the Canaries spends €934 in total (down 1.6%). However, the overall spend has increased by 5.9% to a total of €879.000.000. This follows from the data of the Tourism Expenditure Survey (Egatur) developed by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade and released on Monday 28th Feb 2011. In the nation as a whole, expenditure by international tourists increased by 3% in January to €2.478.000, compared to the same month of 2010.
