€42.000.000 investment in tourism

The amount of €42.000.000, to be paid in April this year (2011), will be available to ‘rehabilitate obsolete accommodation’ and ‘improve tourism areas’ around the Canary Islands. It is thought that this investment will lead to the creation of 4.000 jobs in the Canaries. This is of particular importance as there is a forecast for the archipelago during 2011 to increase the number of visitors between 6% and 8%, due to tourists who have decided to replace their holidays in Egypt or Tunisia for the Canary Islands.
