Canary Islands gain over 1 million passengers in 2010
According to data supplied by AENA, Spains airport authority,the eight airports in the Canary Islands gained a total of 1.200.000 passengers when compared to 2009. In total 31.2 million people travelled through the airports in 2010, an increase of 3.9%. The airports with the highest rise in numbers were Fuerteventura, which experienced an increase of 11.6%, Lanzarote with 5%, Gran Canaria with 3.6%, Tenerife South 3.5% and Tenerife North received the same amount of visitors, aiports which lost passengers wereEl Hierro -7%, La Gomera -6.8% and La Palma -4.9% when compared to figures from 2009.
