Severe weather warning for Canary Islands

A severe weather warning is in place for all of the Canary Islands for tomorrow (Monday 29th November) which includes a note from the Canarian government ordering the closure of all schools, colleges and universities. Winds of up to 170km/h is expected in some parts of the islands. From today (Sunday 28th November) the access roads to mount Teide are closed and tomorrow the following roads will be closed:

TF-21 La Orotava
TF-24 La Esperanza
TF-523 Arafo
TF-38 Guía de Isora

The islands of Tenerife, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma have initiated their ‘Emergency Plans’.

Lanzarote are thought to be less affected than the western islands.
