Rise in foreign tourism in the Canary Islands

There has been an increase in foreign tourism in the Canary Islands. Figures show that, to date, there has been an increase of 5.2% so far this year (2010) when compared to the same period for last year. The islands received 818.876 foriegn tourists during October 2010, a 9.7% increase over October 2009.
While British tourism dropped in Spain last month (2.2%) it showed an increase in the Canary Islands of 18.2% during October 2010.
