British press report on Spains General Strike on 29th September 2010

Some local newspapers in the Canary Islands have recently reported on what they call a negative impact on the already damaged British tourism that the upcoming General Strike in Spain will have. In particular they make reference to an article that appeared in the Daily Mirror (in their online version here. They make reference to ‘British tourists facing travel chaos next week as workers in Spain plan a huge strike’. The Spanish newspapers claim that these articles have been written without waiting for the outcome of the negotiations between the unions and the Ministerio de Fomento, where minimum services will be confirmed. This will be Spains first General Strike since 2002. It is due to take place on Wednesday 29th September 2010.
