Tourism budget cuts of up to 30% for 2011

Promotur has announced cuts of up to 30% for promoting tourism in the Canary Islands for next year 2011, including this years World Travel Market in November, which has led to strong opposition from many of the private and tourism industry players on the islands. At the World Travel Market in London later this year, the stall for the Canary Islands will be ‘noticably smaller’ and there will no longer be a presentation room. Similar cut backs also apply to the ITB in Berlin and FITUR in Madrid. This years World Travel Markey is to be held from the 8th to the 10th of November 2010. It is said that between 6 or 7 million euros will be cut from the budget.
