‘Orange’ weather alert continues
The ‘orange’ weather alert continues in the Canary Islands as over 5.000 people have had their travel plans disrupted as inter-island flights have been cancelled for a second day. Winds of up to 120km/h have been recorded this morning in northern parts of Tenerife. Yesterday 69 interisland flights were cancelled due to the bad weather. Thomson had to divert flights from Gatwick and Manchester to Tenerife’s south airport Reina Sofia. In Garachico waves reached 4 metres. Storms are said to intensify in Tenerife tomorrow with up to 120 litres/sqare metre.
