Los Gigantes rockslide court case update

As the court case continues over the rockslide that occured on the 1st November 2009 killing two people inclusing a British holidaymaker, yesterday (Wednesday 3rd November 2010) the court called the lifeguard that was on duty on the day of the rockslide. In his evidence he told the court that there was only one sign indicating the danger on the beach and that, if you looked closely enough, you could read what it said on it, given its poor condition. He also told that the local police would come up to the bar area (at the entrance to the beach) and would give him a ‘sign’ from the distance indicating that all (the cordoned off area) was OK. He also told that he had warned the British tourist not stay in the affected area, but when the rockslide took place he was warning other people not to enter the water without armbands. The lifegaurd went on to say that due to the danger of rockslides, he had taken on the task himself of making sure that the area was correctly cordoned off at all times.
