Three months without illegal immigrants
It was three months ago since the last ‘cayuco’ boat arrived on the Islands, in fact the last arrival was on the 9th of October 2009 when four cayuco boats arrived on the coasts, three in Lanzarote and a fourth on La Graciosa (Lanzarote), previous to this a cayuco arrived with 90 immigrants (10 of these under age) arrived from Africa on the coasts of Gran Canaria. Snce the first registered arrival in 1994, 96.166 illegal immigrants have arrived at the Canary Islands. The worst year was 2006 which saw the arrival of over 31.000 immigrants.
