More flights delayed due to strikes
Over 250 flights were delayed yesterday (30th Dec 2009) for up to 2 hours due to the bad weather adding to the fact that the air traffic control staff are on strike. Most flights were delayed around an hour, but some flights were delayed for over 2 hours. Aena (Spains airport authority) claim that most of the delays were due to bad weather and that on the day, all staff were at work and only 15 flights were delayed non-weather related issues. 124 flights were delayed in and out of Tenerife South’s Reina Sofia, 49 flights in and out of Tenerife North’s Los Rodeos, 60 flights in Gran Canaria whilst Lanzarote had 18 flights delayed but with longer delay times of over 2 hours.
