AENA to increase airport taxes in the Canary Islands
AENA, the operators of Spains airports, plan to increase airport charges and air navigation services by an average of 10.2% across Spains airport network. Airlines are insisting that this increase is “exorbitant” and that it will not only harm passenger demand, but will also affect tourism, since 3 out of 4 tourists arriving in Spain do so through via air travel. AENA claim that the rates are 43.5% cheaper than in the rest of Europe.
The increases for the Canary Islands are as follows:
Gran Canaria +0,51%
Tenerife South (Reina Sofia) +0,69%
Tenerife Norte (Los Rodeos) +2,40%
Fuerteventura +2,40%
Lanzarote +2,40%
La Palma +1,75%
El Hierro +0.63%
La Gomera +0.63%
