Maspalomas beach loses its sand

The Maspalomas beach in the south of Gran Canaria is suffering the worst erosion in its known history. There is no background, at least in the last fifty years history, of a similar situation to what is occuring at present with the almost total loss of sand and the appearance of  rocks where there were up to three meters of golden sand.

Businessmen, traders and residents of Maspalomas are alarmed by the deterioration that affects the most emblematic beach in the south of Gran Canaria.  “Never before in the history of this beach there has there been a similar incident” one resident said.
