2010 September General Strike figures
According to the unions, 70% of workers did not go to work and instead joined the protests and manifestations accross Spain. The government has not responded with their own figures but has said ‘Spain did not stop due to the strike’. In the Canary Islands figures of over 20.000 people are quoted to have joined the street protests in all seven of the Islands. In the islands there was one arrest due to these protests and limited damage to property such as glue and toothpicks in locks to avoid people opening their doors for business.
