Wages in the Canaries, the lowest in Spain

The average wage in the Canary Islands is the lowest in Spain and was the only one to actually go down in the second quarter of 2010. The average wage dropped by 0.4% when compared to the National average rise of 1.8%. This follows the tendency seen in the first quarter of 2010 when the average monthly wage dropped by 0.6%. The average wage in the Canaries stands at €1,582.97 compared to the National average of €1,926.75. The average amount of hours worked in the Canaries is also the highest in Spain with an average of 156,4 hours per month, compared to the National average of 152,9.
