Price of cigarettes to rise in the Canaries

The cost of tobacco and cigarettes in the Canary Islands is set to rise approximately 20 to 30 cents of a euro. This rise is expected to raise €41.000.000 during 2011 of which €12.000.000 will be used for the rehabilitation of tourist areas. The cigars manufactured in the Canary Islands will be exempt from this tax increase.
