36% vehicle sales increase in the Canaries

3.338 vehicles were matriculated in the Canary Islands in June 2010, a 36% increase when compared to the same month of 2009. By provinces, Las Palmas saw an increase of 55.5% (2.051 vehicles) while Santa Cruz de Tenerife saw an increase of 13.7% (1.287 vehicles). Despite this increase, said to have been caused by the last phase of the €2.000 scrappage scheme, Ganvam (National assocation of sellers of motor vehicles, repairs and spare parts) are predicting a 50% drop in sales in the last quarter of 2010.
