Piggy problem in Marina Baja

A pig problem is reported to have arrived in the Marina Baja.

Pot bellied Vietnamese Pigs that were released into the wild after being brought at pets, have been mating with the wild boars in the region. Now the animals are causing damage to crops and buildings in areas such as Altea, La Nucia and Callosa.

Now a culling program has been launched in an effort to try to bring the rapidly expanding population under control, and to protect the native boars in the region.
