la Gomera wins helicopter U-turn

Authorities in La Gomera have won their battle to have a helicopter based permanently on the island again during the summer months, in a bid to tackle forest fires.

The news was given on Tuesday by the president of the Canaries, Fernando Clavijo, in an apparent U-turn.

The change of heart came after earlier official responce times were called into question.
