Tenerife launches ‘online’ reservations website
Tenerife has launched its own online reservations website www.webtenerife.com with the idea of offering an independant way for visitors to the island to book their own holiday package without the need of any third party such as flight company or tour operator. Although the department behind the website (Turismo de Tenerife) claims the site is currently available in 3 languages (Spanish, English and German) when trying to access the site, Canaries News has discovered that the ‘holiday’ part of the site is still appearing in Spanish only which will render it useless to many British visitors who do not speak Spanish. José Manuel Bermudez, vice president of the Tenerife Council, has pointed out that 70% of visitors to the island do their research online and 30% book their holidays online. he went on to say that the development of the website has taken 2 years to complete.
