Man wanted by FBI found on Tenerife

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Intelligence (FBI) had requested the assistance of the international police regarding the kidnapping of Kevin A. Viskup, a 12 year old American child, as his father, a 49 year old man identified as P.V., was in violation of the court order for guardianship and custody of the child which was issued to the mother. The man had fled the country taking the child with him. The FBI’s request was issued by INTERPOL’s 188 member countries of the police organization. The FBI posted a photo of the wanted man on the Internet requesting the assistance of the general public that could provide some data to facilitate the mans location. With the available data the Guardia Civil began its research focused on the island of Tenerife.

During the month of July, the police obtained data that confirmed their suspicion. After checking a car rental agreement, the police found that the man had rented a vehicle providing a false address. According to statements from neighbours who had seen the man, they claimed that he acted strangely and suspiciously. The Guardia Civil started monitoring the man and vehicle in question, proceeding to his arrest while visiting a supermarket in Las Chafiras in the municipality of San Miguel de Abona, Tenerife. The found the kidnapped boy hiding in the rear of the car. The man was been made available to the Central Criminal Court which ordered his imprisonment and the child is currently in a shelter in Tenerife awaiting the arrival of the mother to island.
