Canaries tourism register 19.2% increase compared to 2010

During October 2011, the Canary Islands registered an increase in tourism with 947,782 tourists visiting the islands during the month. This is a 15.7% increase compared to the same month during 2010 and is an increase of 18.3% when compared with the previous month of September 2011.

In the first ten months of this year (2011) over 8.3 million tourists have visited the Canary Islands, representing an increase of 19.2% over the same period last year (2010). In the whole of Spain, the country received 50.9 million tourists in the first ten months of the year, representing an 8% increase over the same period last year (2010).

The major source markets were the United Kingdom, with 12.4 million tourists, Germany with 8.15 million and France with 7.6 million tourists, while in the month of October, there were 5.1 million international tourist arrivals, representing an annual increase of 8% (385,000 more tourists).
