Over 3.000.000 people visit the Canaries in July 2011

The eight airports in the Canary Islands saw a total of 3,061,579 passengers and 29,741 flight operations during July 2011, reflecting a rising 11.3% and 3.9% respectively over the same period in 2010. The largest percentage increase in number of passengers was at Tenerife Souths Reina Sofia airport, up 17.8% (709 554), according to data released yesterday in a statement by Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (AENA).

Gran Canaria followed Tenerife, with 853,412 passengers, a rise of 13.2%, followed by Lanzarote, with 529,783 (+10.2%), Fuerteventura, with 462,538 (+13.5%), Tenerife Norte with 389,643 (+0.9%), El Hierro, with 16,094 (+3.8%) and La Gomera, with 3001 (2%). La Palma saw their visitors drop by 97,554 (-3%),

In the first seven months of 2011 the islands have seen 20,076,233 passengers travel through their airports, up 13.6% over the same period of 2010, 201,189 flights were operated an increase of 5.8%. Nationally, the figure rises to 117 million passengers (+7.9%) and operated flights exceeded 1.2 million (+2%).
