More power cuts hit Tenerife

Unelco-Endesa to pay €6 million fine over power cut

Unelco-Endesa are to pay a fine of €6.000.000 for leaving 468.000 clients (the whole of the island of Tenerife) without electricity on the 4th March 2010. The company claims a protection system failed during ‘heavy atmospheric conditions’ on the 4th March 2010 and left the whole island of Tenerife without electricity for over 7 hours.

Las Caletillas power station to close in 2015
