Three hotels close down in Puerto de la Cruz

Two hotels have already closed in the tourist area of Puerto de La Cruz in the north of Tenerife and a further one has announced its imminent closure, leading to the loss of around 200 jobs. La Paz and Xibana Park have closed and Chiripa Park is due to close on the 20th December (2009).

Unemployment has risen again in the Canaries, reaching a total of 248.786 people currently unemployed. The figures by provinces are 135.366 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and 113.420 people, a significant increase on last years figures.
