Prosecutors at the Santa Cruz Court have requested a 29 year prison sentence for the man accused of the rape and murder of a 16 year-old girl at Tamaimo in the district of Santiago del Teide which took place in July 2001. This man had met the girl at the fiestas which were taking place at Puerto de Santiago. They, together with other youngsters, went to Tamaimo following the fiesta, where this man and the girl left alone. She was never seen alive again. Apparently she refused to have sexual relations with him, so he hit her head with a rock, and after she had fallen, raped her twice before hitting her head again with a rock. He left the scene not knowing whether she was dead or alive. Her body was found 3 days later.
