Police officers from Playa de las Américas have recently arrested
three people, all of African origin, who are accused of swindling
various business owners in the south of Tenerife.
Some of the victims had reported that they had been invited
to join an extremely lucrative business by these three men, who had
attempted to convince them that they could produce new banknotes
from carbonised paper.
For their demonstration, they had used real 50 euro notes which had
been made to appear carbonised.
However, the notes had been impregnated with iodine, and then
washed in front of the client in a vitamin C solution.
Following this, the clients, or victims, paid a significant
amount of money to have more copies made.
At this point, the swindlers made excuses that they needed to
buy more chemicals from the farmacia, and left with the money.
The victims were left with worthless pieces of paper.

| In
the south of Tenerife, inspectors from the Ayuntamiento of Arona
recently visited the TenBel development to evaluate the situation of
illegal barriers. On
arrival, they found that technicians from the development had
already destroyed one of the barriers concerned.
This has been viewed favourably by the Ayuntamiento, which
has given the directors of TenBel two months in which to destroy the
remaining barriers which are obstructing the public use of various
roads. | |
