Fears over Lanzarote airport strike

Concerns are growing that air traffic controllers at Lanzarote airport could call a strike after negotiations broke down last week.

Negotiations between Saerco, the organisation which runs several privately contracted control towers in Spain, and the unions CCOO and UGT failed, leading to the unions to call for strike action at some point in the summer.

The towers affected include Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Palma in The Canaries, and several others on the mainland.
