The National Geographic Institute (IGN) yesterday (Sunday, 1st April 2012) recorded three earthquakes on the island of El Hierro, specifically in the municipality of El Pinar. The largest one registered 2.7 degrees on the Richter scale which occurred at 22:03 to the southwest of the town and at a depth of just 15km.
There were another two earthquakes registered slightly earlier in the day, one at 20:36 registering 1.7 in magnitude on the Richter scale at a depth of 13km in the same place and a third one at 15:35 which registered 1.1 degrees on the Richter scale.
