Construction in the Canary Islands is not showing signs of recovery as the request to construct new properties in the Canaries has fallen 76.9% is the second quarter of 2010 when compared to the first quarter. This figure is the highest fall in Spain, which showed an increase of 16.7% between April and June. The reason of this high fall is, according to the director of Fepeco, Oscar Izquierdo, due to the lack of finance for both the contructors who want to build more properties and the general public who wish to purchase new properties.
