Ashotel claims Puerto de La Cruz tourism is ‘dramatic’

The occupation level figures for Puerto de La Cruz (Tenerife) for July 2010 are ‘dramatic’ according to Ashotel. July 2010 occupation levels were just over 43% (43.63%), which is a fall of 11.71% when compared to figures for the same month last year (2009). Puerto de La Curz received 72.923 visitors during the summer month. Juan Antonio Rosado, vicepresident of the north zone of Tenerife, pointed out that the figures for 2009 were already bad when comparing to 2008, in particular August 2009 saw a fall in tourism of nearly 20% when compared to August 2008. Other figures released (by Turismo de Tenerife) include a drop in 5.87% in tourism so far this year (Jan – July 2010) when compared to the same period last year.
