More and more people are choosing to use low cost airlines when flying to Spain. Figures recently released confirm that over 50% of all flights arriving in Spain are using low cost airlines to travel. Between January and June (2010) over 25.000.000 passengers entered Spain via air, an increase of 0.9% when compared to 2009, of which 13.9 million used a low cost airline (54.5%) which is an increase of 2.9% when compared to the same period of 2009.
By islands, Tenerife (South) received 1.458.896 passengers by air, of which 860.321 used a low cost airline. Gran Canaria still receives a lower porcentage of people flying low cost. The island received 1.226.265 passengers, of which 590.376 flew low cost and 635.889 using traditional airlines.
