The economic situation in the Canary islands is ‘on the right track’ according to the vice-president of the Canary Islands, José Manuel Soria. His comments are based on two factors: Car vehicle matriculation rose by 11% during January and February 2010 compared to a fall of 31% in the same period in 2009 and the overnight stay duration of tourists grew 3.65% during December 2009 and January 2010 while the figures for the same period the year before were -8.2%.
