Iberia seems to have caved in, slightly, with the demands of the Canarian government with regards to the recetly announced €60 charge per extra luggage item on its flights between the Canaries and the mainland. Iberia had said that it was going to charge all passengers, including residents in the Canary Islands an extra €60 for a second item of baggage. After the pressure applied by the Canarian government, Iberia has decided to allow up to 23 kilos in one item of luggage (and up to 10 as hand luggage) included in the ticket price, each additional item item of luggage (or when the 23 kilos is spread out in 2 items) will be charged at €15 for residents in the Canaries. All non-residents will pay the full €60 for the second item of luggage. The extra €15 also applies if the first item of luggage exceeds 23 kilos and the maximum allowed in any one item remains 32 kilos.
