Las Caletillas power station to close in 2015

The ‘Las Caletillas’ power station is to shut down in June 2015, according to reports. While the debate over the contruction of a third power station on the island of Tenerife continues in order to minimise more island-wide power cuts, it seems that the company (Unelco-Endesa) has forgotten that the original power station in Candelaria, Las Caletillas, ‘expires’ in 2015. The Caletillas power station is now over 40 years old and come 2015, should be destroyed to allow for further housing in Candelaria.
